Stefan Neumann, one of the UK’s most prominent Master Sommeliers, has become the UK Ambassador and Chair Judge for Top 100 Sommeliers annual ranking published by Sommelier Edit.
Taking up his new role in 2026, Neumann will be responsible for the final annual results and will oversee the judging process and inviting new candidates to apply.
In addition, the team at Sommelier Edit are delighted to confirm Neumann will be presenting the annual awards event in June at the prestigious Dorchester Hotel in London.
Speaking about his appointment, Stefan Neumann, a Master Sommelier since 2017, commented: “It is a real honour to become the UK Ambassador for Sommelier Edit and a fantastic opportunity to support wine professionals nationwide. I strongly believe that the role of the sommelier has never been more vital: acting as an engaging, knowledgeable, and passionate bridge between producer and consumer, while ultimately helping business owners drive additional profit.”
As a Master Sommelier with two decades of experience at a variety of Michelin-starred restaurants, most notably The Fat Duck, Neumann is considered one of the most highly accomplished sommeliers in the world. In recent years he has become a leading light for the next generation of sommeliers, training and inspiring new talent across the UK.
Now in its fourth year, the Sommelier Edit Top 100 Sommeliers is an annual ranking of sommeliers currently working in the UK. Applications are open to all, free to enter, and objectively grades professional achievements and level of responsibility attained. Every candidate is scrutinised and verified for their working experience, educational attainment and professional success so far.
Known for the second year as Taylor’s Port Top 100 Sommeliers in 2026, the search is on to find the very best talent in UK hospitality. Applications will be invited from 11th January 2026, and nominations are open all year round.
