Innovation Award shortlist announced for 2026

The Saicho Sparkling Tea Innovation Award celebrates the sommeliers who are redefining the modern beverage experience through their commitment to no- and low-alcohol drinks.

Recognising those working within restaurants, this award honours individuals who are championing innovation, inclusivity and creativity in response to changing guest preferences and drinking habits.

This category shines a spotlight on sommeliers who go beyond simply adding a handful of alcohol-free options to a list. The judges have been looking for candidates who have thoughtfully integrated no- and low-alcohol beverages into their offering, creating exciting pairings, developing unique drinks programmes and ensuring these options receive the same care, attention and expertise as traditional wine selections.

Importantly, the award acknowledges a forward-thinking approach that enhances the guest experience for all diners. These sommeliers recognise that today’s guests are seeking greater choice and flexibility, and they are leading the way in creating beverage programmes that are both inclusive and commercially successful. Through innovation and education, they are helping to challenge perceptions and elevate the role of no- and low-alcohol drinks within fine dining and hospitality.

These five shortlisted candidates represent some of the most creative sommeliers in the on-trade. Through originality, passion and a willingness to embrace new ideas, they have demonstrated how innovative beverage thinking can enrich the dining experience and broaden the appeal of hospitality to a wider audience.

We are delighted to recognise their achievements and congratulate this year’s shortlist for their outstanding contribution to innovation and the evolution of modern drinks service.

The results will be announced at the 4th Annual Taylor’s Port Top 100 Sommeliers UK 2026 on Monday 22 June.
