The Schloss Johannisberg ‘Excellence in Education’ Award will recognise and reward those sommeliers working in restaurants who are championing drinks education.
Criteria
- This new award will celebrate on-trade establishments who regard education as an intrinsic part of their business and who nurture excellence and knowledge with their teams.
- Judges will be looking for sommeliers that go beyond standard pre-service team briefings or simply offering external courses for their team to attend.
- Winners of this category will provide an innovative and engaging approach to developing wine (and or drinks) knowledge and service skills of their team. In turn, they will also ensure the profession of sommeliers is upheld for future candidates who may be considering a career in hospitality.
- Candidates must demonstrate an holistic approach to wine education that benefits the whole team at the restaurant and one that ultimately uplifts the dining experience.
- Open to all professional sommeliers employed by restaurants (excludes drinks suppliers, producers and independent educators), who may or may not have applied to the Top 100 Sommeliers annual listing.
