On-trade professionals who are no longer spending a majority of their time working service are not included in this list.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">She continued: <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe all know highly accomplished sommeliers who have moved away from the floor, and continue to be great ambassadors for the profession and their colleagues. This includes those who are now in more operational or purely buying roles, sommeliers now working for wine importers or brand owners and sommeliers who are cellar masters.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>The judges<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.https:\/sommelieredit.com\/top-100-sommeliers\/\">Top 100 Sommeliers<\/a> was judged and audited by<strong>; Sarah Jane Evans MW<\/strong>, author, journalist and broadcaster, <strong>Giovanni Ferlito MCA<\/strong>, Head of Wine &amp; Beverage, The Ritz, London, <strong>Svetoslav Manolev<\/strong> <strong>MS<\/strong>, wine consultant, educator and wine judge, <strong>Thierry Tomasin MCA<\/strong>, Restaurant Director, The Savoy Grill and <strong>Queena Wong<\/strong>, collector and founder, Curious Vines. Co founders <strong>Angeline Bayly<\/strong> and <strong>Charlotte Hey<\/strong> complete the judging panel as ex officio judges.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Commenting on the first judging session, Thierry Tomasin said; &#8220;The numbers don&#8217;t lie. Top 100 Sommeliers has a unique system which awards points based on each of the criteria. It is weighted to take into consideration every aspect of a sommelier&#8217;s job.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Giovanni Ferlito, Head of Wine &amp; Beverage at The Ritz, London, added, &#8220;This is completely different way of assessing the sommeliers&#8217; craft \u2013 encompassing everything from mise en place to buying, qualifications to year&#8217;s in the job. It&#8217;s difficult to be swayed or influenced when the hard facts are in front of you.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>31% of the Top 100 Sommeliers and 50% of this year\u2019s top 10 sommeliers are based outside of London.
