SUMMARY:Master Roussillon
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a journey into the complex world of terroir in Roussillon.\nThis two-hour educational session will decode the landscape and bring to life what you should expect to taste in your glass from the dry still wines and Vins Doux Naturels AOPs that make up Wines of Roussillon.\nThe winemaking landscape across Roussillon\, shaped over centuries\, has become a myriad of different soils and subsoils that mean this winemaking area of southern France is extraordinarily diverse. \nYou’ll learn about its Catalan roots\, its Mediterranean climate along southern France’s coastline and the unique topography of the land surrounded by the Pyrenees and the three rivers along which the vineyards stretch to the sea. You’ll explore the vast array on soils and terroirs along the way. \n\n\nTHE WINES\nA diverse selection of 12 wines will be presented\, enabling you to learn and taste the difference between some of Roussillon’s key AOP appellations including some Vins Doux Naturels\, the renowned fortified sweet wines from the region.. Focusing on the unique terroirs of each AOP the wines have been carefully selected to highlight the geological differences and the impact of different terroirs have on the resulting wines. \nDigging deep into the cellars to find some real treasures\, we’ll source a unique collection of wines\, including a few back vintages. \nPRESENTERS\n\nEric Aracil\, co-director exports\, Conseil Interprofessionnel des Vins du Roussillon\nStefan Neumann\, Master Sommelier and Educator\n\nThis in-depth study session is suitable for sommeliers currently studying CMS and WSET courses or those who want to hone their existing knowledge.\n \n\n\n \n \n Event Registration Form\n \n \n This field is hidden when viewing the formEvent NameThis field is hidden when viewing the formStatusPendingApprovedRejectedWaiting ListAttendedNo showYour DetailsName(Required)\n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n \n Job title(Required)Restaurant(Required)Your mobile phone number(Required)Email(Required)\n \n Declaration I understand that by applying for a place at this event I am committed to attend.Failure to attend once offered a place is as unpopular as 'no-show' at the restaurant. SUMMARY:Young Sommeliers Competition 2025
DESCRIPTION:Organised by the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs in Great Britain since 2008\, this competition is divided into three segments: theory\, service\, and blind tasting. \nThe theory section is a one-hour written exam testing extensive knowledge of wine\, production methods\, laws\, viticulture\, and vinification\, as well as spirits\, beers\, ales\, ciders\, ports\, and sherry. \nThe service segment evaluates practical skills such as decanting wine\, glass preparation\, and tray handling. Champagne service requires controlled pouring and engaging with the Judge\, who acts as a diner. Contestants also respond to questions on complex menu elements\, wine pairings (offering both Old and New World suggestions)\, and topics like grape varieties\, vintages\, and regions. Blind spirit identification is also part of the service. \nThe blind tasting segment involves assessing six wines based on sight\, smell\, and taste to identify their color\, age\, alcohol content\, origin\, and appellation. The competition follows the Master Sommelier Advanced Examination format\, with scoring based on deductive reasoning. \nThe competition aims to support and encourage young professionals while raising funds for wine education. To find out more about the Young Sommelier Competition please contact the organiser.
